Women who put themselves in grave danger to collect information that the allies could use to defeat Germany.2.5 stars.

Who knew?Any "difficult" (crude) language or explicit sex?An interesting and entertaining read about two women—a female spy recruited to the real-life Alice Network in France during World War I and an unconventional American socialite searching for her cousin in 1947. Eve blamed herself for betraying her friend, a betrayal that led to Lili, Eve, and Violette, another spy, being sentenced to jail. 'The Alice Network' by Kate Quinn is one of my favorite books of all time! Because of this, for me, I have become somewhat jaded by what ends up feeling like rehashed storylines or authors trying to force their style into a genre that they were not prepared to write in.

Goodreads Choice Award Nominee for Historical Fiction (2017)The WWI/WWII historical fiction genre has become pretty saturated over the past decade. In an enthralling new historical novel from national bestselling author Kate Quinn, two women—a female spy recruited to the real-life Alice Network in France during World War I and an unconventional American socialite searching for her cousin in 1947—are brought together in a mesmerizing story of courage and redemption. This book is a tribute to the brave, strong and determined women they must have been. Eve had been a spy in World War I. Charlie is a pregnant American in search of her cousin, Rose. The sex scenes weren't too explicit but sometimes rather harrowing, but the descriptions of the horrors of the wars is what made this book hard to rea June 6th 2017 20 trivia questions It is also about guilt, and redemption, and forgiveness, and survival. https://itseithersadnessoreuphoria.blogspot.com/2020/01/the-best-books-i-read-in-2019.html The Alice Network is based on true events- there was an actual Alice Network, a spy ring run by women in France.

The difficulty of locating Rose is interwoven with the war experiences of Eve (a fictional character), written as part of the historical Alice Network of spies led by Louise de Bettignie. The information instead came from an old cellmate of Lili’s. The Alice Network by Kate Quinn tells the story of two unlikely friends and their quest for revenge on a brutal man. Start by marking “The Alice Network” as Want to Read: While Eve's story as a WWI spy was fascinating and kept me hook to the book, sadly second narrator of the story, Charlie, was very bad in my opinion. With Erik Thomson, Jessica Napier, Caitlin McDougall, Brett Stiller. She makes a detour in London to search for her cousin who has been missing for three years in France. This book has two main characters that are all those things. The story shifts in time to WWI, where Eve is working as a spy in France with the Alice Network, run efficiently by Lili, a small woman of large talents. I hadn't read anything about women spies during WWI, lots about WWII, so this was unique. Kate Quinn has written several historical fiction novels and is best known for 2017's breakout bestseller The Alice Network. She's following up on that success with her latest book, The Huntress, where she returns to World War II. Charlie convinced Eve to live by telling her that she had learned that René had lied to Eve. Together they form unlikely trio. Charlie’s mother had brought Charlie from their home in New York to England for an abortion. First published in 2017, the book is classified as historical fiction. I think because of my subject burnout that The Alice Network just wasn't as amazing as these other titles. A native of southern California, she attended Boston University where she earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Classical Voice. I loved Finn, Eve's man of all work, as he proved to be the tie between Charlie and Eve, as neither of them saw eye-to-eye until they realized just how similar their lives really were. Also, once the WWI and Alice Network story came to an end, story lost all its shine and was pretty much a drag after that.

As much as I enjoyed the World War 1 arc, I hated the World War 2 arc almost as much if not more. It's hard to do a review of this book without giving away all the juicy details of the plot, as it turns out to be a mysterious and suspenseful story. From the first chapter I was hooked. I say purports, because just telling us the date won't really convince the reader, when a young woman in 1947 says "nice wheels" in reference to a car. Quinn talked to Goodreads about her research for the new novel and recommends five of her favorite novels set during the era of the Second World War. Books set during WW2 are my favourite type of books to read and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Lili died in jail. Evelyn “Eve” Gardiner left her task as a spy in World War I with the intent of killing René, a war profiteer whom she criticized for the death of her buddy. Alice Springs, known as The Alice; is the third largest town in the Northern Territory of Australia. The first story is about a British spy network - the "Alice Network" -operating in German-occupied northwestern France. The Alice Network by Kate Quinn informs the tale of two unlikely good friends as well as their pursuit for retribution on a brutal man. But getting this is information comes at a high price for Eve.
